Recently I headed out with the ARCH (Andalucian Rescue Centre for Horses) team as they went to pick up 3 mares in bad condition in Granada Province. We were to meet the vet who would record the condition of the horses and the Police who would arrest the owner to ensure our safety when we picked up the horses. After waiting around for at least an hour for the paperwork to be completed and the police to arrest the owner, word filtered through that the horses were on a huge piece of waste land...

As bookings come in for this years' courses it is good to remember all the courses we ran in our first season starting last September. It's incredible to think that only started running courses in September last year, the response was amazing. All the courses had so much going on so this will be a Course Review Series for those people who were unable to come or un decided get a flavour for what goes on here at Cortijo de Segura during a course. All our horses are individuals and have very different personalities - they are all unrelated but what they have in common are their horrendous histories. They have been rescued from going for meat and have suffered very much both emotionally and physically. The idea behind this blog series is that you can get to know the horses and follow their progress through their rehabilitation.
